WCSJ News: Kinzinger Network Security Bill Signed Into Law

Legislation introduced by Congressman Adam Kinzinger (IL-16) was signed into law by President Trump on March 12.

The Secure and Trsuted Communications Network Act prohibits federal subsidies from being used to purchase communications equipment or services that pose national security risks.

The law contains a provision that came from the bipartisan bill Kinzinger authored with Congessman Joe Doyle (D-PA) which creates more transparency to secure American networks from foreign interference. The Network Security Information Sharing Act was introduced in September of 2019.

In a statement, Kinzinger said he is pleased this bipartisan legislation was signed into law and that now more than ever our manufacturing and cybersecurity sectors need to be protected against foreign interference.
