WCSJ News: Kinzinger Introduces Two Bills To Curb Communist Party Of China's Influence
Congressman Adam Kinzinger this week introduced two new pieces of legislation that he says will protect American consumers from the Chinese government.
Kinzinger said the Communist Party of China has encroached on the American way of life for too long, which is why he introduced H.R. the Internet Application Integrity and Disclosure Act and H.R. 6941 the Online Retailer Product Origin Disclosure Act.
According to Kinzinger, the first Act would require websites or persons that sell or distribute apps owned by the Communist Party of China or any non-state owned entity in China to be labeled in a clear manner. These labels would be enforced by the Federal Trade Commission.
Kinzinger’s second bill would require online retailers to disclose the country of origin for their goods. The congressman said this act would help crack down on Chinese companies that steal images and likeness of American-made products, misrepresenting their own cheaper knockoffs.
In a statement released by his office, Kinzinger said he is proud of his two new pieces of legislation and that Congress has a responsibility to inform the public of the malignant acts of the Communist Party of China.
