Fox News: Rep. Kinzinger: There Will Be 'Freedom March' Through Latin America If Maduro Falls

On April 30, 2019, Congressman Kinzinger joined the America's Newsroom program on Fox News to discuss the latest in Venezuela between the freedom fighters and the Maduro regime.

Clashes broke out in Caracas Tuesday as Venezuelan opposition leader Juan Guaido called for a military uprising to oust socialist leader Nicolas Maduro.

In disturbing video shown on "America's Newsroom," military vehicles drove into a crowd of anti-Maduro demonstrators, running over some of them.

The United States, which has supported Guaido’s claim as interim president of Venezuela, offered its support of the opposition.

Rep. Adam Kinzinger (R-Ill.), a member of the House Foreign Affairs Committee, said there will be "hell to pay" if Maduro's "illegitimate military" resorts to violence against Guaido and his supporters.

He said the Maduro regime has shut down public transportation and internet access, proving that they know the people of Venezuela are not on their side.

"Freedom will prevail," said Kinzinger, calling out China for helping Maduro shut down internet access.

He said the situation is reaching a "crescendo" and hopefully it will end quickly with Guaido in the presidential palace.

Kinzinger said the future of the hemisphere is at stake right now, with Russia and China standing on the other side of an "ideological battle."

"This is a moment. We have neglected our hemisphere for too long. If this goes right in Venezuela, you will see a freedom march all through Latin America over the next decade that I think will be unbelievable."

Maduro, backed by Russia and China, has blasted Guaido as a U.S.-backed puppet, while appearing to retain control of state institutions and the loyalty of senior military officers.
