U.S. Rep Adam Kinzinger took to Facebook on Thursday to give his take on Wednesday’s shooting at a Congressional baseball practice and decry hateful rhetoric in political discourse.

“A man showed up at a baseball field yesterday morning, had been basically practicing this for months in his head, came up with a plan and shot at members of Congress because he disagreed with their politics. If that doesn’t sound ridiculous to you, it should,” he said in the nearly-10-minute video.

Kinzinger — a Republican from Channahon representing Illinois’ 16th Congressional District, including counties north of Peoria — stressed the difference between political disagreement and political hatred.
